What is Adobe Connect?
Adobe Connect is a web conferencing platform that provides standard features like video, audio, screen-sharing, polls, chat, Q&A, and document transfers, as well as the ability for users to create presentations, online training materials, and learning modules.
The product is entirely Adobe Flash-based and has several add-ons for customizing its software to suit each users’ unique needs. Some extensions that are available include, but are not limited to, Closed Captioning support, Word Cloud (for visualizing live discussions), and MP3 player for adding music to users’ meeting rooms.
Users can create or style their own meeting room layouts which can be saved. They can also add multiple chat pods, polls, quizzes, simulations, breakout rooms, HD video, and games to make meetings and online conferencing more interactive. Additionally, Adobe Connect allows for presenters and hosts to utilize a “virtual backstage” to chat and collaborate outside of the main meeting or conference. It also allows for users to go into a “preparation mode” to make adjustments right before or during a session.
Pricing for Adobe Connect Meetings ranges from $50/mo up to $370/mo. Additional webinar capabilities through Adobe Connect Webinar ranges $140/mo to $580/mo, from a webinar with 100 participants to one with up to 1000 participants.

- Stability of the platform.
- Metrics & dashboards.
- Inbuilt surveys.
Engage and Collaborate from Anywhere and Everywhere
- Love how you can create custom layouts ahead of time and seamlessly change from one to another during a session.
- There are so many creative ways to use the whiteboard features.
- Being able to keep participants in one layout while you go into other layouts and make changes, updates, etc. has been incredibly helpful.
- The breakout rooms have endless use cases.
- I wish Adobe provided the audio directly to the customer rather than requiring an outside telecom provider be selected if you want audio beyond VOIP.
- It's nice to be able to upload PPT presentations into a share pod, but if the PPT is more than basic, I find several animations, fonts, etc. are not supported, completely changing the way the presentation comes across. This makes it impossible for me to utilize the feature most of the time and a screen share is the next best option.
Virtually In-Person!
The biggest problem is sometimes the animations that were created in PowerPoint will not be viewed in Connect and will not do what was expected.
- Breakout rooms.
- Multiple pods.
- User friendly.
- Animation from imported PowerPoint.
- Multi Camera function.

Adobe Connect Review
- Allowed upload of course materials.
- Customization of classrooms for various courses.
- Ability to save classroom set-ups for future use.
- The audio connection did not allow for various call-in options (mixed dial-in & computer broke breakout rooms)
- Videos lagged for users & often froze so, it was determined the issue was not on our end but Adobe Connect's
- Required additional set-up time for users pre-session; we often had to connect with users one on one to complete this.
Adobe Connect Review for Training Experience
- Virtual platform for communication
- Interactive features
- Layouts Setups
- AV stability
- Higher number of participants in basic license
Adobe Connect- the best platform for conducting your training!
- Multiple simultaneous chats under a video
- Multiple simultaneous polls
- View white boards and note pods in real-time as teams are filling them out in breakout rooms.
- Short answer polls
- Layout options
- Customize what people see in the breakout rooms
- Engagement meter on an individual level
- Share polls between various rooms
"For professionals, it's a really valuable tool."
- It's a quick method to exchange files, file, documents, and videos from a web app. Real-time conversation, and screen-sharing are all supported. It has a highly user-friendly interface. It is really simple to assist the teams.
- Even team engagements is beneficial since it allows them to share their expertise with others, and the big benefit is the security of the rooms' access is fairly simple to manage.
- The interface, which include features like notes, chat, pods, etc. When we're trying to gather rapid and exact information, simplify our work as much as possible.
- Adobe Connect's features since they allow team members to express their ideas during meetings without causing disruptions, thereby bypassing the current international boundary of distance.
- The recording options don't always function.
- When sharing media, files saved on the server may fail to upload.
- The internet load might cause connectivity issues, causing individuals or the entire session to fail.
- Adobe Connect has presentation features like transitions and animations, which are important in communications.
- Furthermore, Adobe Connect supports virtual events in the classroom, where training is done and knowledge acquired.
- Lastly, Adobe Connect makes virtual meetings through conferencing effective and manageable at a minimal cost.
- Nonetheless, Adobe Connect lacks the engagement monitoring, which can be critical for the management to oversee.
- Besides, Adobe Connect has no certification management, which is essential in the current education or training field.
- Lastly, Adobe Connect has no offline editing tool, hence, when the internet connection is not there, many things can not be conducted effectively.
A Solid Platform for Long-Distance Contact
- It is possible to stream a presentation online. There is also the choice of video conferencing. There is no need to download something.
- On this platform, webinars are also very simple, and you can share your laptop in moments.
- It also has a chat feature and the ability to record calls.
- People aren't as familiar with it as they are with other apps.
- Its cost is higher than other apps.
- Our new team members don't understand it quickly.
- Ability to customize the layout of webinar rooms to tailor to my audience.
- Ability to add polls and Q&A.
- Ability to have more than one host at any given time.
- Recording a session isn't very straight forward.
- Tech issues such as participant getting kicked out.
- PowerPoint doesn't translate well through the Adobe Connect platform.
Adobe Connect- Customized Engagement
- Customized and tailored design and display
- Adobe Captivate functionality
- Layouts Allow for Learning Design and Run of show
- Their closed caption pod has to be connected to an external service
- Users joining via the web are less successful using all of the features.
- Requires planning and design to have the best experience. (Bad for events on the fly)
- The text is tiny. This is on the title of the share pods, and chat and attendee list. I imagine those with visual impairments might struggle.
Training that is interactive and designed are best suited in Adobe Connect. Example Having breakout rooms with different material in each and rotating individuals through each room you can only do in Adobe Connect. You can also have breakout rooms, collaborate via a doc or whiteboard, and then share it in the main meeting so they can present. It really creates a functional space to add the interactivity and engagement that you can do easily in person. If you don't make interactive training, with groups, or polls, and links, and files, you may not need this tool.
Adobe Connect is the King of On-Line Meetings
- The recording functionality is top-notch. Participants are able to interact with a recorded session just as if they were participating live (with the obvious exception of interacting with others). You can place markers on the recording so viewers can jump to areas of interest quickly so they don't have to watch the whole thing. If desired, you can off-load the recording so you can host it elsewhere.
- The platform is incredibly flexible. You can conduct any type of meeting, from a simple webinar with one presenter to breakout sessions where participants are divided into several rooms.
- I like that you can share just about anything through the platform, including handouts, video, etc.
- It supports live polling, too, so you can engage your participants in fun ways.
- The platform even has a whiteboard capability, so it easily converts to a collaborative environment.
- It has the usual goodies for such a platform, too, such as video conferencing and screen sharing.
- The one thing I don't like about Adobe Connect is it that to achieve integrated telephony, you have to purchase the telephony from a third party. This is not offered by Adobe. Once you get it done and set up, it's not too bad, except that the telephony cannot be controlled within the virtual room, but by a separate app. This is Adobe Connect's only failing, in my view, but because the rest of the platform is so good I am willing to overlook it.
Good for meetings, GREAT for virtual training!
- Ability to set up multiple room layouts that "persist" indefinitely. This allows you to set up your room layout as far ahead of time as you'd like and/or re-use layouts over and over again.
- Access to a wealth of add-ons (like clocks, timers, interactive word clouds, random participant selector, etc.), many of which are free.
- A good variety of "pod" types -- different types of surveys, file shares, Q&A, whiteboard (with ability for participants to annotate), etc.
- Multiple ways you can share your screen -- share your whole desktop, share just selected windows, or share just selected applications.
- Ability to have multiple hosts for a meeting and to easily promote a participant to the Presenter or Host role on the fly.
- Breakout rooms, ability to record meetings with options for computer and/or phone audio (including the ability link in external phone conference lines), engagement meters (which, I'll admit, I haven't really used), and, I think, pretty much all of the features that most similar platforms offer.
- Ability to pause webcam, rather than having to stop it and restart it (and, when paused, it shows the last image it was displaying before you paused it).
- For meeting recordings published to the Adobe server, provides a left-hand navigation pane that allows the viewer to jump to different parts of the recording, like each time the layout changes or to the point at which someone typed a particular chat message.
- Ability to email the contents of the chat pods to yourself, both as a host and as a participant.
- No virtual background option
- Without multiple screens, you can't really see the room while you're screen sharing, making it harder (but not impossible) to monitor chat, and, I think, not possible to see others' webcams.
- No "call me" feature.
- Very expensive!
Adobe Connect really helps you connect!
- Virtual Breakout sessions
- Very simple to use
- Easy to set up your own templates
- More support for the trial period
- Better online support and videos to get started
- I haven't found the possibility to save as an MP4 file afterwards for distribution (if possible)
Disconnect with Adobe Connect
- It has a nice interface.
- It allows for multiple people to be on a video at the same time.
- We found the customer support to be lackluster. When we first transitioned to the platform, we had a LOT of technical difficulties. It proved EXTREMELY challenging to get someone from Adobe Connect to troubleshoot with us or attend a webinar with us so that they could experience what we were experiencing.
- We had troubles with the audio. Some of our learners take webinars at their desks via laptops with VOIP audio; others take webinars by dialing in through their mobile phones. If both VOIP and mobile were used to access the platform, the virtual breakout room functionality was not available. This may or be not be related to the way our firm's telephony is set up. We couldn't get a clear answer on this from either our internal technologists or Adobe's technologists.
Expand your reach and connect globally
- The ability to customize your screen layouts. making each classroom unique.
- Bandwidth and connectivity. Many other webinar platforms have limitations of how many users can attend with cameras. Adobe has no limit on how many users can join a meeting and stream live an HD quality camera. This feature makes the platform a true virtual classroom.
- Low cost. The pricing for a license is surprisingly affordable. Adobe has demonstrated great customer support as well. they offer other services - like having a tech expert available to assist with new users having any type of issues.
- There are some connectivity drops. This results in users having to log out and log back in. that generally solves it but multiple instances can lead to frustration.
- A smoother interface would be a nice enhancement. maybe some of the windows could be hidden and brought up as hover over windows.
- The backend CMS is easy enough to manage after you have worked in it for a while but there are a lot of root folders depending on your setup and it can be slightly clunky to navigate to where all your materials and content is.
Adobe Connect good for some things
- Allows the use of third-party add-ins such as a timer, or user poll. Pretty easy to set up.
- Love how you can set up multiple classrooms and create branding for each.
- Convenient method for contacting participants. Provide templates for sending out notifications.
- For some add-ins the functionality was limited - had problem with the PowerPoint slideshow feature. It did not always display properly as you progressed in slides.
- Some of the features were not compatible with phones. For example, Some participants were using phones to participate in class and the features were not compatible. There was no way to test the feature compatibility with different platforms. You create something beautiful for your trainees and you are unable to use.
- The price points were not very flexible. I had limited needs and I was paying a higher price tag than I should for what I needed. They should be more flexible with pricing based on features needed.
- Downloading recordings was a HUGE pain in the neck. Most of the training conducted lasted 3 hours or more. I felt like I was being punished to have to play back the entire presentation to download the recording.
Adobe Connect: Communication 101
- Immediate communication within a secure environment between the host, or hosts, and attendees is a major benefit of Adobe Connect.
- The ability to screen share is second to none and can be done immediately in the current session, or if the host pulls an attendee, or attendees, to a Break Out.
- File sharing when those important files come through that require notification to a group as a whole is also something Adobe Connect does well.
- Finally, the ability to post polls, create a white board for interaction with employees, and other items are just some of the benefits of Adobe Connect
- The one major issue I have experienced with Adobe Connect is the lag or "boot" when there are too many people present. When attendees reached the maximum amount, I see a huge lag when moving to a Break Out, an unresponsive or frozen room, or one may get what we term "booted". This is very frustrating for employees when time is of the essence.Opening up the parameters a bit on attendees to prevent these issues would be greatly appreciated.
- Color. Color. Color. Although you are in a working environment, color is appreciate, but limited when creating pods to discuss or post items. The background is very drab and has no "pop" to it. Employees may see items differently if the pods background was something other than gray.
- Videos. Videos tend to have a lag as well when doing real-time face to face discussion. There seems to be a pixelation issue that has been occurring for years now when viewing videos.
Adobe Connect - Training NOT just meeting
- Provides several options for participant interaction
- Manages and maintains content and room layouts
- Customizable and flexible set up and delivery
- Multiple Hosts
- True Breakout room capabilities
- Still too difficult to get participants up and running on connection to a meeting
- Still uses flash which blocks access to content or to access to a meeting
- Steep learning curve
- A few glitches and idiosyncrasies that need experience to address
Function and Form with a Learning Curve
The product allows us to provide live customer-facing demonstrations of new technology. We're able to send a quick link and easily screencast and conference with customers across the country.
- All of my Adobe presentations look extremely professional. The ability to import files that I've created in other programs allows me to utilize different design tools and bring their best elements with me.
- Breakout rooms are excellent for taking a large class and separating them into smaller groups where they can collaborate and then come back to the large group experience. This is vital for us in building a virtual learning space that people are actively engaged in.
- Simple interface for starting cameras and microphones. We've used some other products that needed their own manual for turning on a webcam. This is a simple click and even provides a preview before anything goes live. This is in addition to a splash screen when you enter a meeting that will walk all new users through the process, saving the presenters time.
- Our biggest complaint is always the lag in VoIP conferencing. It seems to fluctuate, but we can have as much as 5-7 seconds of delay at times. This can be a quick way to stifle any discussion that might be taking place. This ends up with a lot of people talking over one another.
- First-time users sometimes have issues getting the program to open. There is an initial download to get the meeting rooms open and if it doesn't happen automatically, we need to instruct users to try and rejoin the meeting. This isn't a difficult step, but it can prove to be annoying when working with 30-50 new users at one time.
Good for my class environment
- Ability to stream videos.
- Ability to use Chat for engagement.
- Need to allow for interactive PowerPoint presentations without having to do a screen share.
- Ability to record individual breakout rooms.
- Design flexibility, moving "pods" of information around, hiding them, changing the look of the meeting room to best keep the attention of the attendees.
- Completely audio conference agnostic.
- Stores info from meeting to meeting so clients can access info from past sessions easily.
- Difficult to track down support; once you do they are helpful but their website is far too vast and getting a person on chat or phone is tricky.
- Reporting is lacking.
A love hate relationship with Adobe Connect.
- Rearranging of room: When hosting a large presentation (of more than 300), the room can easily be converted into a customized-room or break-out session for example with ease.
- Preparation of Rooms: You are able to prepare a presentation before hand, where all questions can be created for a poll, notes are created for yourself, presentations uploaded and tested, and also a test of the sound. This helps to ensure that all facets are in working order and ready-to-go!
- Switch & Assigning of roles: It is very easy to switch between presenters, assign new presenters, upgrade viewers, and so forth.
- Multi-cam views: It is great that there can be multiple web-cams from presenters used at once. I believe the limit is 4, or at least this is the most that we have tried.
- Emailing of Chat transcript: You can easily send yourself a copy of the chat, which goes to the registered admin of the room.
- Upload of Presentations: There seems to be a problem with the uploading of PowerPoint presentations at times. This results in multiple test, converting into PDFs, changing it up for the best results. This is because there are times when the images are lost, slides are missing or other small things.
- Sound Issues: There have been instances where our out-of-house guest speaker has not been able to hear us (being the host). This resulted in a lot of typing back and forth between people. Also, there are times when there the is a lot of echoing in the room, so testing is absolutely recommended.
- Reporting on Attendees: There should be a way to ensure that all email address are collected to show to the host who attended. At times, participants use fake name, abbreviations, and so forth. So this means that it can be very time consuming to review at the end. Plus, we use Marketo for the follow-up activities and Adobe does not transmit the right statuses, so this requires a manual fix at times. More time being taken.
- New release of product features: It has taken a long time to get video recordings to be converted into MP4, which now can be done.
- At that time, Connect was the most accessible webcasting tool available due to the ubiquity of Adobe Flash. All other webcasting tools were very difficult for participants.
- The ability for web hosts to customize the screen layout.
- Meeting rooms persist and can be prepared in advanced and reused for webcasting a series of events.
- I am concerned but also unaware of the future of Connect with regards to web browsers banning Adobe Flash.
- Connect Training in version 8 would have been better if there were a way to identify employee/supervisor relationships so that supervisors could monitor employee learning.
- Connect Training in version 8 could have used a better training summary for users to understand what training they needed to complete.
