What is Adobe Connect?

Adobe Connect is a web conferencing platform that provides standard features like video, audio, screen-sharing, polls, chat, Q&A, and document transfers, as well as the ability for users to create presentations, online training materials, and learning modules.

The product is entirely Adobe Flash-based and has several add-ons for customizing its software to suit each users’ unique needs. Some extensions that are available include, but are not limited to, Closed Captioning support, Word Cloud (for visualizing live discussions), and MP3 player for adding music to users’ meeting rooms.

Users can create or style their own meeting room layouts which can be saved. They can also add multiple chat pods, polls, quizzes, simulations, breakout rooms, HD video, and games to make meetings and online conferencing more interactive. Additionally, Adobe Connect allows for presenters and hosts to utilize a “virtual backstage” to chat and collaborate outside of the main meeting or conference. It also allows for users to go into a “preparation mode” to make adjustments right before or during a session.

Pricing for Adobe Connect Meetings ranges from $50/mo up to $370/mo. Additional webinar capabilities through Adobe Connect Webinar ranges $140/mo to $580/mo, from a webinar with 100 participants to one with up to 1000 participants.

We use Adobe Connect for the roll out of Technology Training in Amazon. Connect helps us give near to classroom training experience on a virtual platform.
  • Breakout rooms.
  • Ability to create multiple pods.
  • Stability of the platform.
  • Metrics & dashboards.
  • Inbuilt surveys.
Adobe Connect is a great platform for the design and rollout of interactive programs. And it could do better in metrics and dashboards, improve platform stability and capability to host in-house surveys.

When providing live and on-demand training sessions for our business partners, utilizing Adobe Connect has made all the difference in being able to create a virtually engaging learning environment that allows both facilitators and participants to exercise creativity during the learning and development process. Other platforms commonly used in our and other organizations work well for meetings, but Adobe Connect allows us as facilitators to create that in-person feel and have the same level of engagement and collaboration that so often seems to be absent from virtual spaces.
  • Love how you can create custom layouts ahead of time and seamlessly change from one to another during a session.
  • There are so many creative ways to use the whiteboard features.
  • Being able to keep participants in one layout while you go into other layouts and make changes, updates, etc. has been incredibly helpful.
  • The breakout rooms have endless use cases.
  • I wish Adobe provided the audio directly to the customer rather than requiring an outside telecom provider be selected if you want audio beyond VOIP.
  • It's nice to be able to upload PPT presentations into a share pod, but if the PPT is more than basic, I find several animations, fonts, etc. are not supported, completely changing the way the presentation comes across. This makes it impossible for me to utilize the feature most of the time and a screen share is the next best option.
If Adobe Connect is utilized internally at an organization, it would be an excellent way to get people comfortable and familiar with all of the tools built into the system. We utilize with external clients and have found a few challenges we have been able to overcome, but challenges none the less. We find accessing Adobe Connect through the application provides the best experience, but many outside clients will not allow the application to be downloaded immediately. So many of our participants attend through the browser version and can run into bandwidth issues.

We use Connect as our platform for training clients. This includes multiple pods, breakout rooms, and interactive note pads.

The biggest problem is sometimes the animations that were created in PowerPoint will not be viewed in Connect and will not do what was expected.
  • Breakout rooms.
  • Multiple pods.
  • User friendly.
  • Animation from imported PowerPoint.
  • Multi Camera function.
It's great for large training groups that need to create an in-class feel to a virtual class. It's not good for groups that want to use cameras.

Since our personnel are separated geographically, we use it for collaboration and training. We hold meetings and team building. It is better than Microsoft Teams because we have more freedom to customize and keep all content.
  • Hosting meeting.
  • Collaboration.
  • File/content storage.
For our team, Adobe Connect has help with keeping our team connected and sharing files is much easier. The ability to have breakout rooms have been beneficial.

Adobe Connect was used to facilitate virtual leadership development & coaching classes. We were in search of a more expansive & immersive virtual classroom as much of our curriculum transitioned to a virtual format during the pandemic. We were looking for a platform which had features beyond our standard Microsoft Teams meetings.
  • Allowed upload of course materials.
  • Customization of classrooms for various courses.
  • Ability to save classroom set-ups for future use.
  • The audio connection did not allow for various call-in options (mixed dial-in & computer broke breakout rooms)
  • Videos lagged for users & often froze so, it was determined the issue was not on our end but Adobe Connect's
  • Required additional set-up time for users pre-session; we often had to connect with users one on one to complete this.
Adobe Connect is a great fit for facilitated sessions which have multiple features (video, slide deck, breakout rooms, job aids to upload, etc). We did not find it to be any better that Microsoft Teams or Zoom for smaller meetings.

Adobe Connect is used to deliver technical and leadership training programs created by our team.
  • Virtual platform for communication
  • Interactive features
  • Layouts Setups
  • AV stability
  • Higher number of participants in basic license
Training small batches. During large batches, we need a lite version with fewer features that is easy to use for trainers.

We use Adobe Connect as the platform for our training programs.
  • Multiple simultaneous chats under a video
  • Multiple simultaneous polls
  • View white boards and note pods in real-time as teams are filling them out in breakout rooms.
  • Short answer polls
  • Layout options
  • Customize what people see in the breakout rooms
  • Engagement meter on an individual level
  • Share polls between various rooms
Best suited as the platform for training within an organization. The reports that are available at the end can be very helpful.

Our worldwide sales and marketing department uses this great tool. It is a great communication tool with many working capabilities. Adobe Connect supports meetings, training, and seminars. putting together national and international sales representatives is not really easy. We use this app to stay in touch and communicate with each other. Our sales staff benefit from the software since it motivates them.
  • It's a quick method to exchange files, file, documents, and videos from a web app. Real-time conversation, and screen-sharing are all supported. It has a highly user-friendly interface. It is really simple to assist the teams.
  • Even team engagements is beneficial since it allows them to share their expertise with others, and the big benefit is the security of the rooms' access is fairly simple to manage.
  • The interface, which include features like notes, chat, pods, etc. When we're trying to gather rapid and exact information, simplify our work as much as possible.
  • Adobe Connect's features since they allow team members to express their ideas during meetings without causing disruptions, thereby bypassing the current international boundary of distance.
  • The recording options don't always function.
  • When sharing media, files saved on the server may fail to upload.
  • The internet load might cause connectivity issues, causing individuals or the entire session to fail.
It is a great resource for evaluating, refining, and combining abilities and essential experiences in the growth of the sales team training; It is productive and lucrative in terms of distance knowledge transfer, and it reduces employee training financing and expenditures. I really like the ability to collaborate as a group on a huge research project even when we are not in the same country.

Adobe Connect makes us create exceptional collaboration experiences, webinars, and digital training, which are vital for successful communications. Furthermore, Adobe Connect gives us opportunities to create virtual rooms, effective for online training or client engagements. Finally, Adobe Connect increases our interactivity, where the software contains presentation tools, screen sharing, and video conferencing, all aimed to bring some teamwork.
  • Adobe Connect has presentation features like transitions and animations, which are important in communications.
  • Furthermore, Adobe Connect supports virtual events in the classroom, where training is done and knowledge acquired.
  • Lastly, Adobe Connect makes virtual meetings through conferencing effective and manageable at a minimal cost.
  • Nonetheless, Adobe Connect lacks the engagement monitoring, which can be critical for the management to oversee.
  • Besides, Adobe Connect has no certification management, which is essential in the current education or training field.
  • Lastly, Adobe Connect has no offline editing tool, hence, when the internet connection is not there, many things can not be conducted effectively.
One, Adobe Connect will facilitate the virtual classroom or any other form of meeting, which will make training and engagement effective. There is the real-time and instant chatting option from Adobe Connect, a suitable form of communication. For effective execution of this tool, there are templates with enough documentation for how the software is used. Finally, all the presentation features are included in this software, making it a perfect way to pass messages.

It is used in some of our specialized department for the convenience of the customer. In almost a year, Adobe has provided us with a successful approach that our customers have welcomed. Adobe Connect make it easy to set up remote training and meeting of some sort. It's easy to use, arrange, and distribute the material to your audience. You can share screen, webcam, and audio with your clients and upload files in a variety of formats.
  • It is possible to stream a presentation online. There is also the choice of video conferencing. There is no need to download something.
  • On this platform, webinars are also very simple, and you can share your laptop in moments.
  • It also has a chat feature and the ability to record calls.
  • People aren't as familiar with it as they are with other apps.
  • Its cost is higher than other apps.
  • Our new team members don't understand it quickly.
It's fantastic how many hosts can handle various breakout groups. Other fantastic features are the ability to share files and have everyone in the group engage with the documents viewer. I really recommend it. I've had no trouble doing online meetings with clients who are in various countries. It also aided me in conducting seminars and making crucial business choices.

Since most of the office went virtual in 2020, we had been using Adobe Connect for many of our meetings in addition to webinars. There were a lot of tools that gave us a lot of flexibility. For example, there was the option to go into breakout rooms or have a Q&A. This helped to provide a cohesive discussion and helped us to connect with the team easier.
  • Ability to customize the layout of webinar rooms to tailor to my audience.
  • Ability to add polls and Q&A.
  • Ability to have more than one host at any given time.
  • Recording a session isn't very straight forward.
  • Tech issues such as participant getting kicked out.
  • PowerPoint doesn't translate well through the Adobe Connect platform.
If you are presenting to a large audience that requires multiple break rooms, you will most likely get participants that get dropped. If you are just looking for an environment where you will just present to a large group of people, then this will work for you. In addition to this, if you are presenting with multiple presenters, Adobe Connect will give you a seamless way to transfer ownership to whoever is presenting at any given time.

Adobe Connect is used across several agencies and departments, but not all. Adobe Connect was selected due to it's customization and engagement features. The primary goal is to have engaging virtual learning, that is interactive and well designed.
  • Customized and tailored design and display
  • Adobe Captivate functionality
  • Layouts Allow for Learning Design and Run of show
  • Their closed caption pod has to be connected to an external service
  • Users joining via the web are less successful using all of the features.
  • Requires planning and design to have the best experience. (Bad for events on the fly)
  • The text is tiny. This is on the title of the share pods, and chat and attendee list. I imagine those with visual impairments might struggle.
We also have Teams so the situations where Adobe is less useful are those basic meetings that we run in Teams typically. Lecture Style Training could function fine in either.

Training that is interactive and designed are best suited in Adobe Connect. Example Having breakout rooms with different material in each and rotating individuals through each room you can only do in Adobe Connect. You can also have breakout rooms, collaborate via a doc or whiteboard, and then share it in the main meeting so they can present. It really creates a functional space to add the interactivity and engagement that you can do easily in person. If you don't make interactive training, with groups, or polls, and links, and files, you may not need this tool.

We use Adobe Connect to conduct training on software applications, do presentations, and even conduct our quarterly meetings with our board of directors. The platform is extremely flexible so we are able to conduct quality meetings remotely, saving travel time and travel expenses. With Adobe Connect, we are also able to record the training sessions for later viewing, meaning we can hold a single session and still offer the training on-demand.
  • The recording functionality is top-notch. Participants are able to interact with a recorded session just as if they were participating live (with the obvious exception of interacting with others). You can place markers on the recording so viewers can jump to areas of interest quickly so they don't have to watch the whole thing. If desired, you can off-load the recording so you can host it elsewhere.
  • The platform is incredibly flexible. You can conduct any type of meeting, from a simple webinar with one presenter to breakout sessions where participants are divided into several rooms.
  • I like that you can share just about anything through the platform, including handouts, video, etc.
  • It supports live polling, too, so you can engage your participants in fun ways.
  • The platform even has a whiteboard capability, so it easily converts to a collaborative environment.
  • It has the usual goodies for such a platform, too, such as video conferencing and screen sharing.
  • The one thing I don't like about Adobe Connect is it that to achieve integrated telephony, you have to purchase the telephony from a third party. This is not offered by Adobe. Once you get it done and set up, it's not too bad, except that the telephony cannot be controlled within the virtual room, but by a separate app. This is Adobe Connect's only failing, in my view, but because the rest of the platform is so good I am willing to overlook it.
For training sessions and meetings where you might want to conduct breakout sessions, Adobe Connect is in a class by itself. I haven't seen any other conferencing platform equal its breadth of tools and functionality. However, if all you want to do is simple screen sharing and talk, Adobe Connect is overkill. Save yourself money and reduce complexity by going with a simpler platform.

Until last year, Adobe Connect was used as my company's meeting and virtual instructor-led training platform across the whole organization. We also used our area of the Adobe server to publish some of our e-learning modules created in Adobe Presenter or Captivate. Now, my company has switched to another tool (Zoom) and only a few people have retained our Adobe Connect licenses, primarily for training purposes (or for more complex meetings).
  • Ability to set up multiple room layouts that "persist" indefinitely. This allows you to set up your room layout as far ahead of time as you'd like and/or re-use layouts over and over again.
  • Access to a wealth of add-ons (like clocks, timers, interactive word clouds, random participant selector, etc.), many of which are free.
  • A good variety of "pod" types -- different types of surveys, file shares, Q&A, whiteboard (with ability for participants to annotate), etc.
  • Multiple ways you can share your screen -- share your whole desktop, share just selected windows, or share just selected applications.
  • Ability to have multiple hosts for a meeting and to easily promote a participant to the Presenter or Host role on the fly.
  • Breakout rooms, ability to record meetings with options for computer and/or phone audio (including the ability link in external phone conference lines), engagement meters (which, I'll admit, I haven't really used), and, I think, pretty much all of the features that most similar platforms offer.
  • Ability to pause webcam, rather than having to stop it and restart it (and, when paused, it shows the last image it was displaying before you paused it).
  • For meeting recordings published to the Adobe server, provides a left-hand navigation pane that allows the viewer to jump to different parts of the recording, like each time the layout changes or to the point at which someone typed a particular chat message.
  • Ability to email the contents of the chat pods to yourself, both as a host and as a participant.
  • No virtual background option
  • Without multiple screens, you can't really see the room while you're screen sharing, making it harder (but not impossible) to monitor chat, and, I think, not possible to see others' webcams.
  • No "call me" feature.
  • Very expensive!
If you're looking for just a basic meeting tool, there are cheaper ones (like Zoom) that will do the trick just fine. Where Adobe Connect shines is when you're looking for a virtual training tool, because of its more robust feature set and the fact that you can set up room layouts ahead of time and reuse them and because of the available add-ons, which can help make learning more engaging. (In fact, on that engagement front, I believe you can also present learners with interactive quizzes, etc., if you create them in another Adobe tool, like Presenter or Captivate.)

We use it when we host virtual classes to be able to have a webcam and share a PowerPoint presentation. The best feature which we use almost every session is the ability to have virtual breakout sessions where people can be broken down into smaller groups to exchange on the various topics we are discussing.
  • Virtual Breakout sessions
  • Very simple to use
  • Easy to set up your own templates
  • More support for the trial period
  • Better online support and videos to get started
  • I haven't found the possibility to save as an MP4 file afterwards for distribution (if possible)
For virtual training! Adobe Connect is amazing when used in that specific context. If you just want a tool to host/record a presentation, it is OK and is comparable to all the other big names out there (Webex, Skype for Business, Zoom, etc.). When it comes to doing virtual breakout sessions, this is amazing and forces people to actually listen to the webinar and interac amongst themselves opposed to a typical session with low amount of participation unless people are put on the spot.

We attempted to use Adobe Connect as a webinar platform for the entire firm. We were really excited about the virtual breakout room functionality, which would let subsets of Learners in a class break off and have discussions, brainstorming sessions by themselves, and then return to the larger class to share their learning/experiences.
  • It has a nice interface.
  • It allows for multiple people to be on a video at the same time.
  • We found the customer support to be lackluster. When we first transitioned to the platform, we had a LOT of technical difficulties. It proved EXTREMELY challenging to get someone from Adobe Connect to troubleshoot with us or attend a webinar with us so that they could experience what we were experiencing.
  • We had troubles with the audio. Some of our learners take webinars at their desks via laptops with VOIP audio; others take webinars by dialing in through their mobile phones. If both VOIP and mobile were used to access the platform, the virtual breakout room functionality was not available. This may or be not be related to the way our firm's telephony is set up. We couldn't get a clear answer on this from either our internal technologists or Adobe's technologists.
If everyone accesses the webinars with the same audio methodology, it seems like a good webinar platform. Unfortunately, that's not the reality for our Learners.

Our organization is using Connect to deliver live online, instructor-led courses that allow students to take our ISO requirements and auditor training from anywhere. It helps us deliver more training courses to a larger audience while saving cost and time for both our company and the many students we deliver to. Our catalog of courses offered has grown significantly over the years we have used this platform.
  • The ability to customize your screen layouts. making each classroom unique.
  • Bandwidth and connectivity. Many other webinar platforms have limitations of how many users can attend with cameras. Adobe has no limit on how many users can join a meeting and stream live an HD quality camera. This feature makes the platform a true virtual classroom.
  • Low cost. The pricing for a license is surprisingly affordable. Adobe has demonstrated great customer support as well. they offer other services - like having a tech expert available to assist with new users having any type of issues.
  • There are some connectivity drops. This results in users having to log out and log back in. that generally solves it but multiple instances can lead to frustration.
  • A smoother interface would be a nice enhancement. maybe some of the windows could be hidden and brought up as hover over windows.
  • The backend CMS is easy enough to manage after you have worked in it for a while but there are a lot of root folders depending on your setup and it can be slightly clunky to navigate to where all your materials and content is.
If you wish to deliver online training that generates a real classroom feel - Adobe is a great platform. Using other leading webinar platforms to pull this off feels like kind of a stretch. Adobe can upload documents, allow for collaboration and private breakout sessions. There are many features that can bring a true classroom feeling for students. We broke our course out into a week duration for a few hours a day. It is great to see our students take on the technology, understand the material and bond with the instructor and students as if they spent the week under the same roof.

I used Adobe Connect to conduct video training for non-profit work. It allowed the use of add-ins to display PowerPoint slides, and allow users to interact in discussion boards. I was able to design branding for multiple classroom types. I set up rooms with different features enabled such as timers, whiteboards, video playbacks (did not function well for all). There were conflicts sometimes based on the type of devices used to connect to the training. Some of the settings were not intuitive and I found the method for accessing recorded video to be a hassle. In order to download a training, you literally had to play the entire video from start to finish. Some of my workshops lasted 3 hours. This was very inconvenient.
  • Allows the use of third-party add-ins such as a timer, or user poll. Pretty easy to set up.
  • Love how you can set up multiple classrooms and create branding for each.
  • Convenient method for contacting participants. Provide templates for sending out notifications.
  • For some add-ins the functionality was limited - had problem with the PowerPoint slideshow feature. It did not always display properly as you progressed in slides.
  • Some of the features were not compatible with phones. For example, Some participants were using phones to participate in class and the features were not compatible. There was no way to test the feature compatibility with different platforms. You create something beautiful for your trainees and you are unable to use.
  • The price points were not very flexible. I had limited needs and I was paying a higher price tag than I should for what I needed. They should be more flexible with pricing based on features needed.
  • Downloading recordings was a HUGE pain in the neck. Most of the training conducted lasted 3 hours or more. I felt like I was being punished to have to play back the entire presentation to download the recording.
It is nice for projects where you don’t need a lot of bells and whistles. If you are doing a basic live training with a small number of participants, it is easy to manage. I also enjoyed having the ability to brand a classroom and create different setups. I would not recommend if you plan to reuse trainings because of the issue with downloading recordings. I also had issues figuring out how to set up access to live recordings beyond sending a link. I wanted to create a unique login for users but I did not find it easy to do. Also if you want users to view additional videos within the classroom and/or access other third-party features, it is hit or miss. I found it to be incompatible with devices beyond desktop/laptop computers. In addition, the price is a bit expensive for a product that is not as flexible as other products on the market that are cheaper.

In my organization, we use Adobe Connect on a daily basis to ensure immediate communications between consultants and managers (Team Leaders). The ability to connect one on one, go to a breakout, share information, and get immediate assistance when assisting customers is vital in today's virtual world. Used in various departments and with various vendors within my organization, Adobe Connect solves problems by allowing employees to receive answers as soon as they are posted in the room. If we have an issue that requires a Manager to view our screen, etc., this can be done in the current room, or Managers may choose to move to new rooms giving one-on-one assistance. In addition, file sharing and polls help the employee respond to questions as a whole, or individually based upon the needs of the managers. Adobe Connect also solves the problem of communication in a business by not limiting interactions to the typed word, but also allows for attendees and hosts to communicate by calling into a phone number with a passcode for one, or multiple employees to access the room and bridge; thus, allowing vocal communication if needed. This can be limited by the hosts.
  • Immediate communication within a secure environment between the host, or hosts, and attendees is a major benefit of Adobe Connect.
  • The ability to screen share is second to none and can be done immediately in the current session, or if the host pulls an attendee, or attendees, to a Break Out.
  • File sharing when those important files come through that require notification to a group as a whole is also something Adobe Connect does well.
  • Finally, the ability to post polls, create a white board for interaction with employees, and other items are just some of the benefits of Adobe Connect
  • The one major issue I have experienced with Adobe Connect is the lag or "boot" when there are too many people present. When attendees reached the maximum amount, I see a huge lag when moving to a Break Out, an unresponsive or frozen room, or one may get what we term "booted". This is very frustrating for employees when time is of the essence.Opening up the parameters a bit on attendees to prevent these issues would be greatly appreciated.
  • Color. Color. Color. Although you are in a working environment, color is appreciate, but limited when creating pods to discuss or post items. The background is very drab and has no "pop" to it. Employees may see items differently if the pods background was something other than gray.
  • Videos. Videos tend to have a lag as well when doing real-time face to face discussion. There seems to be a pixelation issue that has been occurring for years now when viewing videos.
If communicating with 30-90 agents in the virtual world, Adobe Connect definitely allows for the communication in a simplified environment. For example, f you have 30 agents taking calls, this program offers a way for agents to communicate. If questions are needed answered, the hosts have the ability to pose those questions and get answers from the group. In a smaller group, this may be a bit of overkill and may not be needed. Large groups of 75-100 would create and environment that is less appropriate as there are to many people asking questions and not receiving answers. This amount of people in one room may get lost in the confusion.

Adobe Connect is being used by the companies that I consult with to deliver virtual training programs. It is replacing other options to provide more interaction and engagement.
  • Provides several options for participant interaction
  • Manages and maintains content and room layouts
  • Customizable and flexible set up and delivery
  • Multiple Hosts
  • True Breakout room capabilities
  • Still too difficult to get participants up and running on connection to a meeting
  • Still uses flash which blocks access to content or to access to a meeting
  • Steep learning curve
  • A few glitches and idiosyncrasies that need experience to address
Training small groups of people that require breakout rooms and high levels of interaction. Training where the same content is delivered multiple times over time - because you can maintain a persistent room layout and content Meetings where multiple people may need to present and support the meeting at the same time

Adobe has allowed us to keep our training headcount limited while still providing training to individuals around the country. Adobe allows a team of 8 to support 200+ individuals on each new hire week, in 50+ offices in 36 states. Adobe being used for training has also allowed us to refocus some other individuals away from training and into other projects because of the reach the program now allows us to have.

The product allows us to provide live customer-facing demonstrations of new technology. We're able to send a quick link and easily screencast and conference with customers across the country.
  • All of my Adobe presentations look extremely professional. The ability to import files that I've created in other programs allows me to utilize different design tools and bring their best elements with me.
  • Breakout rooms are excellent for taking a large class and separating them into smaller groups where they can collaborate and then come back to the large group experience. This is vital for us in building a virtual learning space that people are actively engaged in.
  • Simple interface for starting cameras and microphones. We've used some other products that needed their own manual for turning on a webcam. This is a simple click and even provides a preview before anything goes live. This is in addition to a splash screen when you enter a meeting that will walk all new users through the process, saving the presenters time.
  • Our biggest complaint is always the lag in VoIP conferencing. It seems to fluctuate, but we can have as much as 5-7 seconds of delay at times. This can be a quick way to stifle any discussion that might be taking place. This ends up with a lot of people talking over one another.
  • First-time users sometimes have issues getting the program to open. There is an initial download to get the meeting rooms open and if it doesn't happen automatically, we need to instruct users to try and rejoin the meeting. This isn't a difficult step, but it can prove to be annoying when working with 30-50 new users at one time.
Figure out if you're looking for a conferencing tool or a training tool. If the primary purpose is going to be for web meetings, then I would likely look elsewhere. There is better standalone conferencing software. If you're trying to upgrade your training platform, this is a great option. They offer an abundance of tools that make this a viable option for those who will be presenting without producers as well.

We utilize Adobe Connect for our online BSSW and MSW programs and I find that it is the perfect platform for my online teaching environment.
  • Ability to stream videos.
  • Ability to use Chat for engagement.
  • Need to allow for interactive PowerPoint presentations without having to do a screen share.
  • Ability to record individual breakout rooms.
Course presentations can be as interactive as needed or you can use the platform for lecture style teaching.

Our clients participate in a year-long consultant engagement. Clients are all across the US and Canada so we needed a reliable, dynamic meeting software that allowed us to cumulatively build on the clients' knowledge all year, not just a 1-off meeting room. Just our small, 5 person team uses it for our client work as other service engagements don't require cumulative meeting room knowledge.
  • Design flexibility, moving "pods" of information around, hiding them, changing the look of the meeting room to best keep the attention of the attendees.
  • Completely audio conference agnostic.
  • Stores info from meeting to meeting so clients can access info from past sessions easily.
  • Difficult to track down support; once you do they are helpful but their website is far too vast and getting a person on chat or phone is tricky.
  • Reporting is lacking.
If you need meeting room design flexibility or cumulative knowledge storage in a single meeting room, there is no comparison. WebEx, GoToMeeting and others are more for quick one time meetings, not appropriate for a year long services agreement where the same meeting room and info is required from meeting to meeting.

There are essential two uses of this tool within our organisation, with these departments being our customer care and marketing. It's used to conduct training sessions and also to host our webinars; where for the later, we'll select a hot topic that is of interest to both clients and leads alike, and host an inspirational session with the chance to answer questions at the end. This facilitates the need to either hold a Q&A session, inspiration session, workshop, or for presentations regarding a hot topic.
  • Rearranging of room: When hosting a large presentation (of more than 300), the room can easily be converted into a customized-room or break-out session for example with ease.
  • Preparation of Rooms: You are able to prepare a presentation before hand, where all questions can be created for a poll, notes are created for yourself, presentations uploaded and tested, and also a test of the sound. This helps to ensure that all facets are in working order and ready-to-go!
  • Switch & Assigning of roles: It is very easy to switch between presenters, assign new presenters, upgrade viewers, and so forth.
  • Multi-cam views: It is great that there can be multiple web-cams from presenters used at once. I believe the limit is 4, or at least this is the most that we have tried.
  • Emailing of Chat transcript: You can easily send yourself a copy of the chat, which goes to the registered admin of the room.
  • Upload of Presentations: There seems to be a problem with the uploading of PowerPoint presentations at times. This results in multiple test, converting into PDFs, changing it up for the best results. This is because there are times when the images are lost, slides are missing or other small things.
  • Sound Issues: There have been instances where our out-of-house guest speaker has not been able to hear us (being the host). This resulted in a lot of typing back and forth between people. Also, there are times when there the is a lot of echoing in the room, so testing is absolutely recommended.
  • Reporting on Attendees: There should be a way to ensure that all email address are collected to show to the host who attended. At times, participants use fake name, abbreviations, and so forth. So this means that it can be very time consuming to review at the end. Plus, we use Marketo for the follow-up activities and Adobe does not transmit the right statuses, so this requires a manual fix at times. More time being taken.
  • New release of product features: It has taken a long time to get video recordings to be converted into MP4, which now can be done.
Works great for webinars, meetings and break-out sessions in my opinion. These are the types of scenarios that I have tested, but the only problem would be the price in relation to services. Rooms can be customised to fit your needs too, so just keep that in-mind as this can prove to be very useful.

Connect was used to provide just-in-time training to global employees in three topic areas - technical support, sales support and international sales support. Connect Meeting was used to webcast SME presentations which were recorded for later viewing and connecting to Adobe Events with short quiz/evaluation objects. Connect Training was also used for asynchronous lessons on product features and support.
  • At that time, Connect was the most accessible webcasting tool available due to the ubiquity of Adobe Flash. All other webcasting tools were very difficult for participants.
  • The ability for web hosts to customize the screen layout.
  • Meeting rooms persist and can be prepared in advanced and reused for webcasting a series of events.
  • I am concerned but also unaware of the future of Connect with regards to web browsers banning Adobe Flash.
  • Connect Training in version 8 would have been better if there were a way to identify employee/supervisor relationships so that supervisors could monitor employee learning.
  • Connect Training in version 8 could have used a better training summary for users to understand what training they needed to complete.
Cost is a major consideration with Connect. In my current role Blackboard Collaborate has been selected as the organizational tool, though Connect is still supported at a per-use cost. Free web meeting alternatives are improving such as Skype and Google Hangouts so there are more alternatives for basic events. More sophisticated events will still need tools like Connect.
